Overview

At JKR International, we specialize in the design and fabrication of fully customized Hip-Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthoses (HKAFOs) to address complex mobility challenges. Our HKAFOs are precision-engineered to provide stability, control, and support for individuals requiring comprehensive lower limb bracing.

What is an HKAFO?
A Hip-Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis (HKAFO) is an advanced orthotic device designed to control motion and provide support across the hip, knee, ankle, and foot. As an extension of a KAFO, our HKAFOs integrate a hip joint mechanism connected to a pelvic band. For patients requiring additional postural support and trunk stability, our custom design can be further extended to include lumbar or thoracic spinal components.

Key Features & Benefits:

  • Comprehensive Control: Provides multi-joint stability for the entire lower extremity, aiding in stance control and ambulation for individuals with significant muscle weakness or neurological involvement.

  • Custom-Fit Design: Each HKAFO is meticulously crafted from a patient-specific model to ensure optimal fit, comfort, and biomechanical alignment.

  • Modular Versatility: Our design philosophy allows for a tailored approach. The system can range from a standard hip-pelvic configuration to a full trunk-hip-knee-ankle-foot orthosis, incorporating spinal segments as needed for enhanced core support.

  • Superior Craftsmanship: Built with durable, lightweight materials and high-quality components to ensure longevity and reliable performance for the user.

Technical Information

Engineered for complex bracing needs, this custom-fabricated orthosis is constructed from high-strength, lightweight materials to ensure durability and patient comfort. The modular design incorporates precision anatomical joints at the hip, knee and ankle, which can be configured to provide the exact level of control required for each unique presentation. Depending on the patient’s need for stability, the system can be fabricated to include integrated pelvic support or can be extended to incorporate additional trunk segments. Finished with custom-molded interfaces and secure closure systems, the device is designed to optimize fit, biomechanical alignment, and long-term wearability.
